Join us as we navigate the ever-evolving terrain of sexuality, fostering understanding, acceptance, and empowerment along the way.
This book club is 18+, free and welcome to anyone! This is a reoccurring vanilla event, please read our community guidelines before attending your first meeting.
We meet once a week on Wednesday evenings at 7pm EST.
August & September 2024
We will be reading through Disability Intimacy: Essays on Love, Care, and Desire edited by Alice Wong. Alice Wong is a disabeled activist, media maker and research consultant. She is the Founder and Directory of the Disability Visibility Project.
In Disability Intimacy, Wong brings together an anthology exploring caregiving, community, access, friendship, disabled sexual discovery and sexual liberation.
I recommend borrowing your copy from your local library, or it can be purchased from the links below. If reading physical or ebooks isn’t your thing - I highly recommend the audio book!
Join us on Thursdays from
7:30pm-8:30pm EST

Community Guidlines
This book club is 18+ and a reoccurring vanilla event. To ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all members, we have established the guidelines that will be followed during every meeting. Not adhering to these guidelines will result in an immediate expulsion from our book club.
Respect and Inclusivity: We embrace diversity in all its forms, including but not limited to gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion, age, ability, and socioeconomic status. Treat every member with respect and kindness.
Appropriate Attire: Please arrive to our meeting clothed and in vanilla attire. No gear or fetish wear should be visible for the duration of our meeting. When you are in fetish wear outside of a scene, you are nonconsensually bringing others into a public scene. We want to make sure everyone feels safe and comfortable.
Consent and Boundaries: Prioritize consent and respect boundaries in all interactions, both within the book club discussions and any associated events. We asked that you respect members' choices regarding participation and disclosure.
Zero Tolerance for Hate Speech: Hate speech, including language that promotes discrimination, violence, or prejudice based on any of the aforementioned characteristics, will not be tolerated under any circumstances. This includes derogatory comments, slurs, or offensive jokes.
Anti-Racism and Anti-Sexism: We are committed to combating racism, sexism, and all forms of discrimination within our community. Engage in discussions with awareness of your privilege and be mindful of the experiences of marginalized groups. Challenge harmful stereotypes and actively support marginalized voices.
Constructive Communication: Foster constructive and inclusive communication. Listen actively, share your perspectives respectfully, and be open to learning from others' experiences and viewpoints. Disagreements are inevitable, but handle them with maturity and empathy.
Content Warnings and Trigger Sensitivity: Be mindful of potentially triggering content in book discussions and provide content warnings when necessary. Respect members' sensitivities and refrain from dismissing or belittling their experiences.
Confidentiality: Some of the topics that may come up in our readings will allow us to hold space for difficult conversations. In order to keep our book club as a safe space, please respect the privacy of your fellow members. Refrain from sharing personal information or stories disclosed within the book club discussions outside of the group without explicit permission.
Reporting and Accountability: If you experience or witness behavior that violates these guidelines, please report it to the moderators/administrators promptly. We are committed to addressing concerns seriously and taking appropriate action to maintain a safe and welcoming community for all.
By participating in our sex-positive book club, you agree to uphold these guidelines and contribute to a community that values diversity, respect, and open-mindedness. Let's create an environment where everyone feels supported, empowered, and free to explore the rich tapestry of human sexuality through literature.
Thank you for being a part of our vibrant community!
